Good morning!
I should bring some light to the many speculations in the past.
It is definitely planned, in early 2009 (for the Toy Fair in Nuremberg) to publish a large update for the ECoS to version 3.0.0. Following "key features" are planned:
1) Full support of mfx ® locomotives. These include the running, the switching of all functions, the graphical display of the decoder and the automatic registration of mfx ® locos at the ECoS.
2) The Implementation of a graphical track plan in the ECoS. This is primarily intended for station areas, but for small layouts may makes an external PC obsolete. That track plan application will operate and display switches, signals and switch routes.
Besides these features are many, many improvements and optimizations added here to describe would go too far. ESU is doing the update as part of the product care to all registered ECoS users for free of charge (!) We believe that these features alone, more than the ECOS value and your decision for an ECOS in each case was the right one.
